Proposal for ZSF to donate money to Adélie

Alex proposes ZSF donates money to Adélie to help them cover cost of hosting of a sparc64 machine that ZSF uses for testing.

Andrew proposes ZSF have a general charity budget that gets distributed to other non profits that support ZSF.

• How much? After reviewing finances ( https://ziglang.org/news/2025-financials/ ): $8_000 USD/year.
• Should the entire budget be used every year? Yes.
• To include a $1_000 USD one time donation to Adélie this year.
• To include an already donated $1_000 USD one time donation to OSU Open Source Lab earlier this year.
• To include an already existing ongoing donation of $1_800 USD per year to musl.
• Possibly also to include sponsoring underrepresented peoples to attend the Recurse Center (which is not a non profit).

Regarding Recurse Center: ZSF would not donate to Recurse Center directly, because it is a for-profit company. The sponsorship budget would go to travel, food, and lodging costs. ZSF would not select candidates to attend; ZSF would donate to RC’s sponsorship budget, if possible.
